Have you ever noticed how sometimes websites start with “http://” and then sometimes they start with “https://” and have a green padlock nearby? The website that has a green padlock has an "SSL Certificate".

In the past, the only time an average webmaster needed to care about SSL was if you were accepting credit cards.

But that all changed in late 2014 when Google announced that SSL was going to be rolled out as a ranking factor.

But now Google is going even further. Starting in January 2017, Google is starting to mark pages with forms that collect personal information as Not Secure. Here’s what that change will look like in Google Chrome:

Google eventually plans to expand this feature to treat all HTTP pages like this:

Because of this, while it is not mandatory, we recommend that all websites have an SSL certificate.

Click into the main 'Website' tab, in the left menu click 'Secure Certificate', select the certificate type and click 'Save Secure Certificate Settings And Update My Subscription'.

To order an SSL certificate, login to your Eagle account, go to Website -> SSL certificate and select which SSL certificate you want.
