Email attachment and file size limit

Many email servers will not accept email attachments over a certain size. This article will explain why there is a limit, the email attachment size limit in Eagle and other options to send large files.

What is the maximum size an email attachment can be when sending from Eagle?

At Eagle we have applied an email size limit of 20MB, however, many email servers are not configured to accept emails that exceed 10MB. So it is recommended that the email does not exceed 10MB including the message’s text and any attachments.

Why an attachment limit is important?

It's important to add a size limit to email attachments as the recipients mail system may reject incoming emails with attachments over a certain size. Additionally, an email may pass through several different servers on the way to it's destination, many of which may impose size limits.

How to send a file that is larger than 10MB

If you need to send a file that is larger than 10MB, we would recommend using a file hosting service like Dropbox , OneDrive or Google Drive. You can upload large documents, images etc. and your recipients can download the files directly from the file hosting service. You can add the provided URL's to your emails, with which your recipient can gain access to specific files.
