Multifactor Authentication Migration Overview

The enhancement of multifactor authentication through Okta provides you with enhanced security measures, for a more secure and efficient log in workflow.

Okta is a company that specialises in customer identity and security. MRI Eagle Software uses the Okta multifactor authentication product to ensure we keep up to date with best practice for security when logging in to Eagle Software.

What is Multifactor Authentication?
Multifactor authentication requires a user to confirm their identity on a secondary device. When enabled, users will be sent a one-time code via their authenticator app that will then need to be entered when signing into Eagle Software.

What to Expect. High level overview.

From October, we will be migrating groups to this improved experience.

  1. You will receive a notification email prior to your account being migrated.

  2. When this happens you will see a different login page upon signing in to the Eagle Software, where you can click 'Enhance Security Now' or 'Enhance Security Later'.

  3. When you enhance your security, you will be signed out of Eagle Software and navigated to a new Okta* sign in page.

  4. You will then be required to create an account and set a password for Okta.

  5. You will then need to select how you provide your second method of authentication, for example by downloading the Google Authenticator App.

  6. Once the Okta account has been set up, you will be signed back into Eagle Software.

Each time you log in again you will require your user name, password and authentication code.

Detailed Migration Process

The migration will immediately begin after you log in to Eagle Software:

  • Open Eagle Software > Enter your email address and Password > Click Sign In

  • Read the information > Click Enhance Security Now or Enhance Security Later

If you choose to Enhance Security Later, you will be automatically logged into Eagle Software and a red banner will be displayed at the top of the screen, notifying you of the action that you must take by the due date.

When you enhance your security, you will be prompted to create your Okta account:

  • Enter a new password and repeat new password

  • Choose a forgot password question and include your answer

  • Click a picture to choose your security image

  • Click Create My Account

  • Click Setup for any of the multifactor authentication options you wish to use and follow the process

Note: At least one factor must be configured, however we strongly advise setting up multiple options. This not only makes your account even more secure but also gives you alternatives should you encounter issues with your primary method.

Supported MFA Factors in Eagle Software.

  • Mobile App Authenticators:

    • Okta Verify: Sends you a push notification for quick approval

    • Google Authenticator (or other downloaded mobile authentication apps): Gives you a temporary security code to enter

  • Physical Devices:

    • Security Key: A small device you plug into your computer to confirm it's you

  • Biometric Methods:

    • Biometric Authenticator: Uses your fingerprint or other unique traits to verify your identity

Once you have set up an option, it will display at the top under 'Enrolled factors' with a green tick.

  • Click Setup for each additional option if desired and follow the process

  • Once complete, scroll down to the bottom of the page > Click Finish

The migration process is now complete. You will see an Eagle Software tile in Okta which you can click to be automatically logged into your Eagle Software.
